A Tomcat & not a P5B, obviously!
Regulator went on my X-1/9; the battery exploded when I downshifted to 3rd gear. Same place as an NSX and it went with a bit of a 'whump!' & a smell.
Sounds like possibly a knackered slip ring. Alternator exchange recommended.
