Thread: ipod connection to Bose?

  1. #1

    Default ipod connection to Bose?

    Would the Science of Speed item work with a UK or JDM market car?

    I can't see why it shouldn't but the ad says USA Spec.

    Or is there another way of playing an ipod through a Bose system?

    Hi Kevin,

    I have one from SOS and it works really well. It's easy to install and charges also. It's a great update for the car. The only quirk is that you often have to push the program button on the Bose a couple of times to bring up the menu on the iPod/iPhone. You also Lose you cd stack, but that's no big deal.

    Cheers,

    James.

    Hi Kevin,

    I've used the Grom Audio version, as long as you've got access to the CD Changer cable its a 5 minute job to fit. The new versions also apparently support bluetooth.

    Hi, kevinpsw.

    Lots of people got confused with the name ‘USA Spec’.
    It’s actually a company name and not a ‘specification’.

    So, the one in your link will work on all NSX regardless of the country models.
    (By the way, as a side note, the head unit is Alpine and not Bose.)

    There are other options such as the one from GROM Audio but I don’t have any experience with it.

    Although some of the information are quite old, good write up on NSX Prime;

    I have never bought parts from Science of Speed (SoS) but lots and lots of good feedback from US and UK customers.

    I buy the iPod adaptor from the official retailer of USA Spec called Enfig Car Stereo in US.

    Their product includes the correct cable and bit cheaper than SoS.
    I bought many iPod adaptors from them and I’m happy with their support.

    Please check the spec of your Apple devices before purchasing any iPod adaptor as some of the very old devices may not work due to the OS/firmware version.

    I regularly receive similar question on the iPod adaptor for NSX so here is the copy of my email that I sent last week to another owner.

    Under the 'Electronics' section, you will find 'iPod Adaptor, USA Spec PA11-HON'.

    This is the one lots of UK and US owners are using at the moment.

    You can see the detail of the product and the manual here;
    http://usaspec.com/product.php?Produ...eShowProduct=1

    I always buy it from this vendor in US;
    http://enfigcarstereo.com/USASPEC_PA11_HON.html

    You must buy the exact model as 'PA11-HON' and nothing else.

    Please note that by using this product, you will no longer be able to access your CD changer although you can go back to it by reverting the installation.

    Having said this, you will never want to go back to the CD changer.

    This product will let you control your iPod or iPhone through the OEM head unit just as if you are controlling your CD changer.

    It also handles Play List mode in the iPod.

    Please make sure to double check that your audio head unit and Bose AMPs are in perfect working order before the installation.

    Otherwise, you may escalate the issue already on your head unit or you won't get the full sound quality out of the speakers.

    Regards,
    Kaz
