Thread: Sad end to week

  1. Default Sad end to week

Ok, so as seen in previous posts we have been making nsx customers happy this week, but on monday night i got a call from a good customer and friend, Howard, to say he had skidded and bumped the nsx. At first sounded ok as he reckoned he had only been doing 40-50, and that car was still driving so he had pulled it off the road into a laneway etc, but lights were broken so need assistance.
I called recovery guys and went to see how he was doing, unfortunately the sight that greeted me was a sad one.
One very badly bent front end, both chassis rails bent, especially drivers side, nearly 350 mm out of line, inner wings creased both sides and of course all the panel damage.
Got it back to my unit to assess a little better and insurance, body shop and myself all agreed it was not repairable.
However it has gone to storage and will likely go to salvage but i am working hard to try and secure the car, as i would hate to see it go to some unscrupulous repairer.

    A few sad pics.

There was no impact to the passenger side, this misalignment is from the whole front end being shoved over, passenger wheel is almost touching the scuttle and under the bonnet is hard to distinguish where the spare wheel ends and the rad and slam panel begin.

    not nice

  2. Unhappy That sucks

Damp greasy roads, a nightmare. Very sorry to see "another bite the dust".

Aye, a little over correction may have been a contributory factor too, but roads were slippy that night and it is a notorious bend where it happened. Damn poor place to put a telegraph pole too.

Not good - bet he's gutted! It always beggars belief how little local authorities do about 'in the way' road furniture...except slap a lower speed-limit on the road as if that's going to solve the problem!

It's also worrying how easy it is to write-off a £30k supercar - I'm guessing it's a combination of parts prices and the all-ally construction.

Blue '08 FD2 CTR - big, ITR-sized shoes to fill...
Yellow '96 NSX 3.0 - oh was it worth the wait!
Black '99 ITR - well, I had to have another one, the first was so much fun. Miss this one even more than #1...
Blue '03 S2000 - SOLD, flawed but fun
Blue '04 Focus TDCi Sport - SOLD, very good fun for a diesel!
Black '00 ITR - SOLD, still missed
Red '98 Civic VTi - SOLD, probably still bombproof

Looks allot worse now I've seen the daylight pics. Take it you havent secured this yet for salvage?

    Unhappy

devastating to look at it, in the best colour too

my sincere sympathies to the owner but glad he is OK

gut wrenching to see, from what appeared to be a very well looked after NSX

Sad to see, R.I.P. I hope the owner walked away from it without injury. That's the most important thing here.

Absolutely, he was ok apart from a bump on the head from smacking against the door pillar. Mentally scarred at the loss of such a lovely car for a long time i would imagine.
