    Default NSX Mule at Nurburg

    A couple of pictures of the NSX Mule taken at Nurburg the week before last:

    When I first saw them I thought it was a 2000 .. but its longer !

    Anyway Im sure you saw similar pics in an AutoMag recently - one thing I did note was what sounded like a waste gate sound when changing gear - could this be a turbo ?

    If it is F/I then it would be very interesting, I haven't heard any F/I NSX rumours.

    Great to get some "local" pictures and first hand info.

    I would not take the turbo too seriously as they had turbo NSXs before the final one.

    As disscused on prime they will probably target the same group of people that bought the NSX back in 1990 and they are in their 50s now, looking for a GT type of car.

    I would even go as far as saying they will make it a lazy cruiser with a soup up J37A1 from the MDX!

    Where is Detlelf, our man at the ring to tell us what is under the bonnet?

    Can't tell from the pics, whether the car is front engined or mid engined. Or whether this is the next S2000 or NSX, or hopefully a completely new model.

    Nothing wrong with turbos I guess. Probably will be the best way in the future to have powerful engines and fuel economy/emissions. Motorway cruising can be done at little to no boost, while increasing boost when it's needed.

    And the weight is kept down with a small engine.

    F/I = Forced Induction, ie Turbo or Supercharger.

    MDX = http://www.acura.com/index.aspx?initPath=MDX looks like the Honda CRV

    Yes is a truck, but it has a torquey engine 3.7L, here are the specs:

    The all-new 3.7-litre VTEC V6 is rated at 224kW (300hp) which is exerted @ 6000rpm, while peak torque of 380Nm arrives @ 5000rpm. The engine generates its power and torque high in the rev range, and features a dual-stage intake manifold and an electronic drive-by-wire throttle system.

    But looking at the Honda engine range on Wikipedia this came up:

    Honda G engine

    The Honda G series engine is an inline 5 cylinder gasoline engine, originally used in the 1992 Acura Vigor and in the honda accord inspire they used a 2.0l inline five. In 1996 the 2.5 TL was made available with the 2.5 L 176 hp (131 kW) SOHC 20-valve 5-cylinder engine from the Vigor. In 1999 the 2.5L engine was dropped from the TL line-up.


    G25A1 Specifications
    • Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 86.40 mm
    • Displacement: 2451cc
    • Valve Configuration: SOHC, 20 valves, non-VTEC
    • Type: In-line 5 cylinder, aluminum block and head
    • Compression ratio: 9.3:1
    • Max power: 176hp (131kw)
    • Max torque: 170ft·lbf
    • Redline: 6500 rpm
    So if we double it and tweek it :

    Honda X50A1 ( My own take on the name )

    Specifications
    • Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 86.40 mm
    • Displacement: 4902 cc
    • Valve Configuration: DOHC, 40 valves, VTEC
    • Type: 10 cylinder in V 65°, aluminum block and head
    • Compression ratio: 10.2:1
    • Max power: 502 BHP *
    • *176hp x 2 = 352HP + 150 BHP from higher compression and revs, DOHC and VTEC = 502hp
    If the C32A made 200 BHP and the C32B makes 290, that would be and extra 90 BHP from the DOHC, higher revs and VTEC. That would be 15 BHP extra per cylinder.
    • Max torque: 400 ft·lb
    • Both the c32A and G25 produce about 34 ft.lb per cylinder. It will not be hard for them to extract an extra 6 ft.lb from a V10.
    • Redline: 8500 rpm
    There you are that is my take on it.
