Targa Roof

The owner wanted me to take a look at the noise from the roof section.

During the test driving session at the beginning of the service, to me,
it was more of wind noise than the squeaking one but still
there was some rattling noise above the driver seat.

There was no air getting inside the cabin from around the
door window area so the wind noise was more to do with the parts
cutting through the air flow.

For any Targa model, you must keep the metal like black latch at the
roof pillar greased to prevent some squeaking noise.

I think there was TSB released for this as well.

At the same time, applied silicone grease all the way around the
weather strip of targa roof as well as around the door.

I’m going to leave it overnight and then wipe off the excess.

By the way, if you own the targa model, whatever you do,
don’t damage this weather strip at the rear side.

It’s one piece covering not only the rear section of the roof but also
runs across both side of B pillars so it’s very long and with its special shape,
mega-expensive......

Dealing with targa roof requires several knowhow and
without knowing the structure, it can easily damage the
flap/tab of each panels.

As reported earlier, someone removed the panel without knowing this and
thus damaged some of the flap resulting in rattling noise.

As I can’t recreate the tab, applied felt wool at several different positions
to minimise the rattle.

Will put the roof back on the car tomorrow once I have wiped off the excess of
silicone grease.

So, just need to carry out the test driving session, adjust ABS fluid level,
reset ECU and wash the car.

Almost done.
