Crank Pulley

Rate this Entry

Time to replace the crank pulley on another NSX.

Unless you request,
it won’t be replaced at the time of TB service in UK.

By now,
most of the owners browsing through the NSXCB,
NSX Prime, etc sites read about the scary stories about
the crank pulley weight chewing into the TB and
causing damages to the engine
so it is essential to replace it at every TB service
regardless of the annual mileage.

From the parts no printed on the ACG and A/C belts,
these were not replaced in the past but no cracks were observed so fine to be re-used.

No drama in removing the existing crank pulley.

However, as seen on many NSX,
I didn’t like the state of the TB lower cover bolts.

Again, for some reason,
these bolts are not replaced at every TB service.

Also, unless you request, the WP won’t be replaced during the standard TB service
and thus,
the TB lower cover will be re-used.

On this NSX, one of the fixing tab at the TB lower cover was
already cracked as seen in this photo.

In case the owner comes back to me for the future TB/WP service,
decided to replace three bolts on the TB lower cover......

........and applied silicone grease at the bolt head.

New Crank Pulley installed.
