KSP ABS Upgrade Loom

Rate this Entry
While working on the NSX, I was modifying the KSP ABS upgrade loom for LHD model.

For RHD model, I only need to add the SCS terminal with 1pin or 2pin TE-AMP connector but while I was checking the cable length, worried about the GND cable on LHD model.

On LHD model, the modulator will be facing 180deg opposite direction compared to the RHD one and with the existing KSP loom design, the GND cable would be about a few cm short unless you sharply bent the cable exit at the big BLK/ORG connector if you want to connect it to the specified GND point.
On the front bulkhead, the bolt holes for the ABS bracket are already threaded for both the RHD and LHD model so easy to evaluate the cable length.

From this LOT, KSP started adding the SCS terminal.

I felt it's too short for the LHD model so extended it and attached 2pin connector with GND cable and as a standard procedure, blanking plug with sealing plug filled with the liquid gasket.

Just slide the GND cable out of the big sleeve so that it can be routed to the GND point without applying any long term strain.
You will need to do several things behind the connector cover in case the loom was pulled accidentally.

Checking the cable length.
There is a narrow gap between the ABS body and the vertical panel so the GND cable can be routed there.

If you are doing the upgrade by yourself on the LHD model, you have another option.

Special thanks goes to Honcho on NSX Prime.
He provided me with the info on the alternative GND point on LHD model as he installed the KSP ABS Loom on his Acura NSX recently.

As in my ABS upgrade parts list, if you are doing DIY and want to save the parts cost, you can re-use the tripod like bracket by disassembling the classic ABS unit.
If you are asking someone to do it for you or planning to sell the used unit later, forget about it as it's quicker and cheaper to replace the bracket than ask someone to disassemble it.

On your classic ABS bracket, you will have several bolt threads that will no longer be in use once you upgrade to the latest ABS.
Honcho used one of them that used to hold the bracket for the pressure switch on classic ABS and after completing the upgrade, the system was operating fine with no ABS warning light triggered.

If you replaced the bracket with the latest spec like in the next photo, there will be no bolt holes at the marked position but you can tap it fairly easily or you can use different position/method.

I haven't checked the resistance of the bracket against the battery GND point but since it's aluminium with three large bolts holding the entire ABS unit with the bolt thread welded behind the frame, I would imagine it's a good GND level. Will check this later.
By using this GND point, you don't need to modify the GND cable on KSP loom for LHD application as it will be very close to the exit of big BLK/ORG connector.

Hope to send the loom together with the rest of the components to the owner very soon.
