Preparation for the TB/WP service

Rate this Entry

Another owner left his NSX for the TB/WP/Valve clearance service together with the Health Check and 96 months services.

[Message to the owner] Your service history record will have the Blog ID as 'NSX-Service-2011108'.

The owner bought the parts in US based on the list that I provided and brought them back with him on the way back to UK.

If you take your NSX to the standard garage, the parts for the TB service will be like the ones on the left.

As the owner wanted to replace the coolant header tank and MTF, it is not a direct comparison but still reasonable to show how far my service will go from the point of parts being replaced.

The amount of parts being replaced through my service on the right.

I will replace more than twice the amount of parts compared to the standard service and it will involve removing all four cam shafts.

This won’t happen on the standard service at other places unless you have requested.

Because of this, if you want to save some cost, it would be better to ask the main dealership to carry out the standard TB service.

If you go down this route, I still recommend you to replace the WP.

I love spending long hours on valve clearance adjustment.

I normally spend about four hours as I want to aim for the very little deviation in the compression test data after the service of which will result in difference in the harmony level of the engine sound.

Another reason why I want to be considered as an Atelier and Artist than something else.

Addition to these parts, the owner also brought just enough amount of Honda Type 2 coolant, Engine Oil and Honda MTF 3.

Addition to these services, I’m helping people affected by the recent event in Japan and also I must finish writing six of Health Check reports so it’s going to be another busy week again…..
