As I thought it's going to be an easy day, thought about checking the condition of the L side window regulator. Bad idea as I couldn't wash the car and ended up working until 9:30pm on Sunday when the owner is going to collect the car the following day....


Having said this, well worth it as I came to the conclusion that the regulator guide rail was beyond the re-usable state and once again, it backed up my theory of why the door window operations gets so slow.




Any way, first thing first.

After the test driving session, placed the car back on the lift to carry out several inspection. No clearance issues what-so-ever around the suspension area and happy with the result.




Started the installation of the SoS window regulator repair kit or window fix-it-thingy as known by many owners.

Because of the high tension at the regulator wire, the installation is bit tricky but normally, you can manage it with the help of up/down switch to change the direction of the tension. However, on this NSX, due to the excessive friction (at the guide rails and regulator rail) along the area where I can access the original white plastic parts, I had to spend ages installing the new SoS parts.
Because of this excessive friction, started to wonder about the condition of the regulator assy and decided to take it out.




I even opened the motor section to investigate the state of the bobbins that retract both wires as well as to operate the glass holder without the friction from the motor/bobbin mechanism.

There was tinly wear at the centre shaft where the two bobbins were held but not enough to cause excessive friction when the wires were under the tension.
Next, operated the glass holder by hand and while it was freely moving even with just one finger, when it was about 1/3 from the bottom, the friction increased massively and really heavy to move. Due to limited time, I only took the photo after re-assembly of the motor housing.




The wire guide at the top and bottom were in healthy condition so replacing the bottom one with aftermarket parts won't fix the issue for this NSX as the increase of friction is not from there.
