  1. TB/WP/Valve 08

Before going any further, wanted to carry out the vacuum leak check of the cooling system especially after replacing the WP as well as all of the coolant hoses.

You don’t want to find any leakage at the WP after re-assembling everything as you will need to remove almost everything again to get to the WP.

Time to wash the very dirty valve covers, TB Front/Rear covers and install the new gasket on them including the TB lower cover and IGN Coil cover.

This will allow liquid gasket to cure well before the re-assembly process.

As reported earlier, the fixing nuts for the valve covers were very loose and the gaskets/seals were not replaced during the last TB service.

    This resulted ...

Before backing off the valve clearance adjuster and removing the TB, checked the valve clearance on some of the cylinders.

They were either at the max limit or just above so seems like it was not adjusted properly last time.

#4 cyl was at the limit so it will be interesting to see how it will improve the deviation in compression data after the service.

As the TB Rear cover was missing the rubber seal, lots of oil/debris were observed around the area.

Due to the damage to the Front valve cover seal, some sort of chemical managed to get inside the TB area and changed the colour of almost half of the TB Front cover.

It will be cleaned thoroughly during the process.

Now I understood why there were so much oil around the engine head as well as some of the spark plug body.

Almost all of the fixing nuts for the valve covers were not tight enough especially the ones under the IGN Coil covers.

    They were just finger tight.

Probably, the valve cover gaskets, seals and the round disc seals under the nuts were not replaced during the last TB service and thus, couldn’t get proper ...
