Cigarette Lighter Socket 05

Rate this Entry

The OEM socket is most likely discontinued by now.

It's panel mounted type so these photo should help if you ever want to replace it with something else.

The wiring as above.
There is a splice at each power line for the light bulbs.
One for the ash tray and the other for the illumination ring around the cigarette lighter.

By the way, be careful using the LED bulbs around the car.

There are several circuits going through the illumination control circuit and also some of the light bulb sockets have diodes built into them.

Depending on several factors, you could experience strange phenomenon that won’t happen when incandescent bulbs were in use.

Several owners reported strange behaviour of audio head unit illumination after replacing the light bulbs around cigarette lighter to LED when applying brake without starting the engine or something like that.

The ceiling light can stay on but at really dim status even when the door was fully closed.
