Exhaust…

Rate this Entry
Recently, one of the owner visited my place for the Health Check Service and his NSX was super charger with the member AR’s Zero Drone Exhaust.

It was very quiet at low rpm but once you open the throttle, it gave really nice roaring sound.

I think the owner had the header from C32B and until I was told, I didn’t even realise that the car was in fact de-CAT.

It was that quiet even without the CAT.

The engine cover was replaced with a meshed type one so it was not a direct comparison but as far as I could feel, there was no drone.

The price was really competitive compared to other aftermarket exhausts and quality of the welding was reasonable considering the price.

It would be nice to see the power curve of before/after the installation but for NSX, the aftermarket exhaust is more of throttle response and sound improvement than the power increase.

Then, I drove two NSX with Tubi exhaust.

This one was quite different from AR’s exhaust and it gave more roar from the low rpm.

Above 3,000rpm, it was very nice loud sound.

There was small drone at about 2,200rpm but I don’t stay at this rpm so not a problem.

The price is bit hard on the pocket but it’s Tubi so expected any way.

If you really want something loud and to be noticed from others, then Taitec would be the one for you.

I don’t know the price in UK or US, but in Japan, it is reasonably priced so quite popular among the NSX community there.

Even with the CAT, it is too loud for me so not my choice I’m afraid..

Still haven’t decided what to do with my exhaust..

Hunt goes on…

    Hm…..
    The chosen one….

As I want to see, test and feel the product by myself, it may take long time to be the chosen one on anything going onto my NSX.

The longest record for me so far was the decision on the header.

Took me more than 15 years to investigate, test them back to back, feel/see for the sound/welding, etc before making the final decision.

Hope it won’t take too long this time…

    Just noticed this one.

Thanks for the review Kaz, it confirms that the ZD does as designed, quiet when needed and roaring when coerced.

I am chuffed that my humble exhaust was compared with those two brands and by someone of your caliber, that is really something, once again, thanks.

    Cheers,

On the prime forum they have experimented with using a bypass valve to get the best of both worlds, such as Ferrari and Aston use, but I think these are one offs at the moment..

And yes my Taitec can be quite anti-social at times.
Can I ask which Taitec you have and where you got it from? Science of Speed?

I bought my Taitec GT light weight exhaust and headers via VTEC direct, It is a lovely sounding exhaust and is very light but there is a little drone at certain rpms.
Also take into account the Vtec induction sound is drowned out somewhat with the Taitec, another thing that the ZD one probably would not do.
I imagine there will be a wide selection of exhaust to listen to at the Silverstone classic again this year..

    See you all there.
