A/C CCU Board Service 01

Rate this Entry

As mentioned many times, for some reason,
when I start working on something new,
it tends to end up with the same services
repeated for multiple owners.

I just finished working on one CCU board and
while servicing it, another owner contacted me
with exactly the same failure mode.

No power at the display and nothing shows up.
Nothing happens even pressing any of the buttons and
just simply dead.

So, started to look into the board.
The protection zener diode ZD1 & 2 were fine so
the power circuit itself is fine.

The board material is the dark green one using black capacitors
with blue check mark so this board is from the really early model.

Initial inspection looked to be not too bad....

However, once I started removing the capacitors,
I noticed that the acid managed to penetrate through
the board to quite depth although the leakage itself was
confined in small area.

The area especially around C14 was severely dissolved.

The damage is worse than the board that I just returned to
the other owner so it will require extra time but
hope to recover the full functionalities.
