And so it begins! Yesterday I dropped the car off at the body shop ( ML Motorsport) to get the paintwork done. It has been a very long time coming, but will post some before/ after photos when I get the car back.

    Couple of Qs:

1 - does an ABS-delete complicate your insurance?

2 - colour change on the respray? (And can you give an idea of the extent and the likely final cost - by PM if you don't want to say publicly.)

I asked my Classic car insurance company that exact same question two years ago and they said it wouldn’t compromise my insurance if I removed it.

    Hey Jim,

What was the decision for the front bay and engine bay areas? Are you making and colour matching or have gone satin black like OEM-R variants.

Your car is going to look stunning and refinished to a stunning colour option …

    Looking forward to before/after photos

    regards, Paul

    Hi,

Er, first question, I am not really sure, never thought about it!! (i guess I better speak to my insurance!)

and 2. As my V5 ( Logbook) states the colour only as "Silver" then going from Sebring Silver to Kaiser Silver to me it's still Silver!) Now as to the cost, I am going for the full restoration respray, which means pretty much ripping the car apart, painting all the bits, and putting back together again, but not only that, I need a bit of work done as some of the panels didn't quite fit properly, so at a conservative estimate, could be anywhere between 6- 8 K .

I'll just have to wait and see if there are any issues discovered when they take it apart, so fingers crossed........

    Cheers
    Jim

Thanks for the info Jim. Hope you have good news at the insurer.

I'd have thought at that going to a darker silver would mean that you could avoid the time/cost of internal cavity paintwork (except, perhaps, door jambs). In effect, Sebring Silver just looks like bare metal, so I don't think it would look odd when frunk or engine cover are lifted. It's an option I am considering, after remembering that I really, REALLY wanted a black NSX when I first started looking. But I'm undecided, especially if a wrap would achieve the same effect.
