I actually have a 2001 Facelift VVTi Tiptronic Supara Just arrived Today from Japan, One of the very last cars.

    Heres a few pics:

There was a Supra at Vmax and the NSX was ahead by a few mph

But if you do that they do tend to lunch engines regularly. A friend of mine had one that had £9K of engine work done after it broke the timing chain. 18mths later it did it again! OK the car had been breathed on in the turbos and mapping department but obviously it was too much for the engine to stay reliable.

I was offered the dead car for £2K but had no room at the time. Same, would have made a good project

The boys at the Rototest factory do their own tests and have bolted a nearly new and a 27K (Km) RS4 to their kit and the older one had lost, or never had, 17whp. Interestingly a 15k (Km) old R8 made 26whp more than the nearly new RS4!

That is actually an expensive optional extra in Japan. Basically the car I have is pretty much top of the heap, as factory fitted leather, Nav/TV/DVD and toyota kit is all extra.

I've bought mine with a year's warranty that covers everything, and roadside assistance. Funny as I have never bought a Honda with a warranty before, or worried about it!

Though if I look at the Honda CRV forums, there are loads of people with various problems, just like looking through Audi forums. Maybe it is an impression that NSXs have less problems due to smaller numbers? Also our cars usually aren't daily drivers, and probably treated with more sympathy than the average Audi?

    Hi Sudesh

If you want to find out which is faster I'll come over and drive yourNSX for you and you can drive the Supra

I'm sure we could have hours of fun putting down some rubber
2005 NA2 NSX, Berlina Black with full red leather interior.
2016 NC1 NSX, Casino White Pearl with red semi-aniline leather and alcantara.

My NSX would have a really unfair advantage as its close to NSX-R weight and the Supra is just standard with no HP mods. So maybe you should bring the 1 of 12 over lol! Black against black, that would be a some sight. Know a nice little track too outside Belfast.

Drag racing like that is pretty pointless IMHO, the result is often determined by the launch. Put the cars on circuit for a proper test

Your Supra is an auto which isn't fair on it either.

Thats true, but its not the same auto setup as the pre-facelift cars and has a paddle shift style change on the steering wheel , so you can can control the gear changes.

Our previous car was a Supra auto, and believe me it would hang on to the red line in every gear and change faster than I ever could with a manual. It's one hell of an auto box if you boot it!

Even so an old slushmatic (torque converter) style transmission will absorb more power than a manual transmission so it'll be slower overall. On the plus side you'll get consistent launches. On a circuit the auto will be significant handicap.
