Yes Mr Murray owned at least one NSX, and used it as a benchmark for usability. With a bit more research the BMW could have been just as good.
I met Nick Mason and his wife recently, and mentioned to his wife that Gordon Murray used the Nsx as a starting point in creating the F1. What I didn't know until the day after was that Gordon Murray firstly considered Nick Mason's range of Ferraris etc as a base, and decided against them in favour of the Nsx, doh!
