Thread: NSX-R Importing

  1. Default NSX-R Importing

I'm a total NSX novice who currently drives an EVO IX. I'm an ex Integra Type R owner of 5 years and loved every second of it!

With NSX's being a rarity in the UK i was thinking about the import route.

I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of the Evo in exchange for a MK1 911 GT3 but the car i've always wanted is an NSX Type R. Before you all burst into laughter, bear with me!

I'm just after any info from anyone who has imported one with regards to prices and availability etc?

I get the feeling it would be easier and cheaper to import rocking horse excrement

    Hi and welcome!

Have you any idea what year of NSX-R your after any specific miles you want stay around. As you probably already know, importing a well cared for NSX of the standard type, actually works out as expensive as a UK car, in some cases alot more. An NSX-R is even more expensive and as your probably aware there is only a few NSX-R's in the UK already.

To give you a rough idea as I have been following NSX's in Japan and actually have an Imported NSX myself and also import myself; a 1995 NSX-R Grade 5 car with 10,000miles is around £65,000, a 1993 Grade 5 28,000miles £58,000 these are only a few examples, I have seen slightly cheaper ones as like everything depends on Year/Miles/Grade, also those prices dont include shipping, VAT, Customs duty, Registrations Fees and other small fees to have the car in the UK and on the road.

Exchange rate will also determine the price of the car but with the VAT being 15% at the moment there will be a bit of saving there. Also if you stay within the 10 year rule the car wont be subject to SVA which at the moment would be very costly for an NA2 NSX-R.

NA2 NSX-R's would cost well over £100k to have on the road in the UK.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt realise they still command that kind of money. Out of my league unfortunately, it's a shame.

Yeah they still fetch very high premiums in JAPAN as its sought after there, and is considered their Supercar. There have been slightly cheaper ones available but would still be in the very late £40's early £50's for one. The NSX-R also started out from I think 1992 to 1995 then appeared again as the facelifted NA2 from I think 2003 to 2005.

    Why not the Mk2 996 GT3 rather than Mk1?

The Mk1 is considered the more sought after car. To be honest there's not much in price between the two versions. I'd happily settle for either!

I'd be after a clubsport version in white

In a special edit EVO, the best drivers cars, the mk1 just rated one place higher than a mk2, NSX Type R was fifth just half a point behind the mk2. Winner was the 550, followed by the Zonda, then mk1, mk2 & Type R!

With the world economy in melt down are the 02+ NSX-R's still fetching such high prices? I would of thought that prices must be coming down by now, as now not even the bug is at a premium any more.

Even Tom Hartley is selling R8's for less than base list! http://www.tomhartley.com/usedcar/AU...shire/14438479
