    Default front wheel wobbler

    Hi

    I'm a newbie and new to NSX ownership ( 97 Dark Green Targa auto) Trying to bring the car up to top spec I found one front wheel (original NSX alloys) runs out of true by 5mm at the site of kerb damage.

    They look like forged wheels. Can they be pressed back to true? or is this a waste of time? If the latter anyone with a standard front wheel for sale?

    Two other observations from a newcomer:

    The sun visor is poor for the driver with a big gap at RH,

    The screen reflection from the instrument binnacle is somehwat distracting when driving into sun.

    Otherwise the car is great fun and will be even more so with a pair of straight front wheels.

    Cruising this site and the US NSX Prime site I have to admit to being impressed by the high level of dialogue and cameraderie that appears to exist between NSX owners.

    keep checking the stuff for sale section on nsxprime and save a search on ebay for 'nsx front wheel' or similar - they sometimes come up for sale as singles or pairs, and when they do they tend to be proportinately cheaper than a full set too.

    Your local wheel refurbishment centre will be able to tell you if your wheel is repairable.
    I did have a large chunk welded back into an alloy wheel years ago, it looked perfect but it did take a lot of balancing weights, so I would go for a reputable well established company & not the cheapest (like I did).

    On your other points, I must say that the sun visor has been designed for shorter people, anyone over 6' has to slouch slighty to see under the visor when down....Is there a shorter version out there??

    And the dash reflection in the windshield bugs me a bit too, I'm sure there is a dash polish out there which dulls the shine slightly?? I think we have to live with that one due to the angle of the screen, a vertical screen would not do the cars looks much good.

    I should try to obtain a replacement wheel ASAP.

    I wouldn't like to drive a supercar on a damaged wheel.

    Also, the loads/vibrations will knock out balljoints/bushes etc. Please bear in mind that NSX suspension bits are a fortune!

    Thanks all of you for your deliberations. The offending wheel is with Aberdeen Headshop for appraisal on their press. They specialise in persuading cylinder heads to return to being flat without too much machining. They have performed miracles in the past so I'll wait and see, meanwhile I have replacement wheels in the pipeline.

    The dash rug shown in the last link looks "very comfy" but does seem to spoil the interior finesse. I will experiment and report back

    I took a look at this dash board rug and to say it seems to spoil the interior finesse is being far to kind - IT IS DARNED UGLY :shock:

    There must be more subtle solutions to the glare problem even in the sunny parts of the USA
