Thread: Japfest.. zymol Japon + HD Cleanse?

  1. Default Japfest.. zymol Japon + HD Cleanse?

I was just going to order some Zymol Japon to take to wax the old car on Saturday..

This site says that I should be using this stuff too.. obviously marketing... and sounds a bit dangerous.

    What you think? http://www.gpwizard.co.uk/shop/index...roducts_id=136

When to buy a Meguiars Dual Action Polisher G220 but not sure that there will be powere there... so figure I'll pass.

Or could I, should I, just buy all this stuff on the day at a stand????

I have a dual action polisher, I'm really impressed with it. Easy to use and no hot spots and no swirling.

I tried some Zymol for the first time the other day (makes me sound like a canabis newbie!) and was quite impressed. It smells great, goes on well and comes off easily, and I guess if you buy it from the states it's affordable. I was also impressed by how quickly water beaded off the car. As with all these specialist products though, couldn't say whether it's any better. It's all technique and preference I guess; I've seen some amazing finishes with cheap products and some average ones using high grade products.

    Cheers,

    James.

So, no comment on the Cleanse ( take a layer of paint off your car ) product that they recommend.

Anyone know if there will be electricity in the area of the cars??? I'd buy one of those duallies and bring it.

Rob, I have the Japon wax and the HD cleanse - not used the cleanse yet but used the wax with James and am really impressed with how mu bonnet came up after a buff with his polisher first. I'd get the starter kit from Verter (sic).

Sorry Rob, back on topic ...

IMO sounds a bit extreme (as they describe it) for your late car. I would of thought that the following would be fine

    1. thourough wash
    2. clay
    3. rewash (2 buckets)
    4. towel dry
    5. Meguiars 83 to remove any minor swirls etc
    6. either - Meguiars 80 or the Japon buffed to a shine

Just my thoughts, but there are others with much more knowledge than me regarding detailing

Also, bare in mind that unless there is any shade / cloud cover, any of this work is going to be extremely difficult in direct sunlight, plus if it is hot then some of the processes will be very difficult to get good results from as the products will possibly not work as well as intended.

Personally I would go with a good wash, clay and hand wax/polish for the weekend, then take your time at home and under the right conditions

You should always use the HD cleanse on a car before applying the wax. It is a light paint cleanser removing any contaminants in the paint, it feeds the paints with the oils it needs to give it a deeper gloss and finally it gives the wax something to adhere to. I have worked on my own car with and without and there is a marked difference when using the HD cleanse.

If you don't want to cough up for the Zymol product then try an alternative paint cleanser like Serious Performance's own brand.

For what its worth I enquired which Zymol wax to get for my (ex) red NSX, whether Japon or Carbon. The reply was to use Carbon, whch is what I got and I had pretty good results with it.

    I got mine from John's wax - http://www.johnswax.co.uk/
