Here in the states the compressor on the Acura Integra is the same as the NSX except for the drive pulley. Go to NSXPrime and do a search in the Do it Yourself section for the part number, this will save you alot of money. Just change the drive pulley with your original one. If you can't find one in the UK, Ray Laks Acura in New York ships to the UK. Ask for JR. With the Pound to the Dollar at 1.95 to 1, it will probabily be cheeper than buying a new one for an NSX. This is a genuine Honda part, as well.

Also might be a good idea to check out the breakers as they might have the Legend's one, just don't tell them is for an NSX or they might try to put up the price!

You can get compressors rebuilt as well.

www.compressortech.co.uk, quoted me £250 to do one.

I bought an A/C Compressor off Techchoiceparts on ebay about a year an a half ago, very quick delivery and a good guy to deal with. Had no problems with the AC since fitted. Only difference with the US compressor's is the flywheel/clutch is slightly larger than the UK one due to there higher summer temperatures! Honda got me the US belt to go with it (under a tenner) and now it gets a lot cooler than before!

Hope this helps, gave the guy good feedback at the time and would recomend buying from him again

That's the one I was talking about. I was wrong, it is for the Integra, not the Legend. Same unit just different pulley, much cheeper than the one flaged for the NSX. On a car like an NSX new is always better. If nothing else you know it will last and will have some kind of a warrenty.

The AC compressor on my '98 was locked up and the compressor clutch was fried when I bought the car (as a result of a system leak losing all it's AC coolant).

Went to a independant AC specialist and they supplied me with:
    - a fully reconditioned identical compressor and clutch(old one was beyond repair) for just 290 Euro (Honda charges about 1400 E for a new compressor + I think 300 E for the new clutch)
    - a new universal dryer cartridge (the one in front of the radiator) which was almost identical to the OE unit for 60Euro (Honda charges about 280 E)

Took the old parts out of the car and put new ones on car myself, changing the compressor was a pita.

AC specialist tested, vacumated and refilled the system for 100 Euro
So all was well again for about 450 Euro and about 8-10 hours of my own work.

If I had gone to a Honda workshop and had them supply the OE parts and do the work, the bill would have been around 2500-3000 E
