Question OEM Radio - Cassette Belt Replacement

    Hello together,

Since I was working on my OEM radio I noticed that tape reverse (rewind and all associated functions) was not operating, just auto-reversing instead. The reason for this is a worn-out belt that prevents the tape from moving and triggering auto-reverse (no movement -> end of tape reached). For now I installed a working tape unit from another NSX radio but in parallel the belt should re replaced.

The question is quite simple: Are there any sources of belt drives for this type of Alpine radio?
It's a square, 1 mm thick belt with a length of ~425 mm (which is quite unusual). Any information on the actual length or specification would also be very helpful.

PS: It's all for nostalgic reasons, I'm fully aware of the limitations of cassette tapes :-)

Try to get hold of Nakamichi spare parts on eB. They might have a similar one. 220 mm is the length after stretching over the years. It's maybe 200 mm new.

Thanks for the hint. Unfortunately I made a mistake when measuring the belt, it's actually 425 mm. It looks like even the Nakamichi does not utilize such a long belt.
Same with all the cheap belt sets available (and they seem to be of sketchy quality, too).

For now, the following belts could be localized from two German distributors:

Distributor Diameter (mm) Thickness (mm) Length (mm)
    elbatech 120 1.0 376
    elbatech 124 1.2 (probably still OK) 389
    csi-elektronik 130 1.0 408.4
    elbatech 135 1.0 424

If all fails these four are going to be ordered and we will learn which one fits best

Over time they stretch by about 5-10% but not 20%. 408 mm night be a good starting length.

In this case, I'm going to order the 408 mm first as it's a separate distributor anyway.
I'll keep you updated about the results

The order arrived and the length of 408 mm (130 mm diameter) fits perfectly.
Interestingly, the old belt is a little thicker than 1 mm, probably 1.2 or 1.5.
    A write-up is upcoming
