Interestingly I've just entered my registration number into the vehicle checker box on the DVLA website and it claims I can drive my 92 throughout London without charge.
And from what I can see I think it's because I've registered a new number plate change on it in the last few months.
So maybe that would be the same for you if you did come over, just get it re-registered. (It could be a loop hole in the system)
