Thread: Rumours are picking up momentum for the 2019 S2k

Default Rumours are picking up momentum for the 2019 S2k

Whilst many were watching, waiting and even placing deposits for the NC1 NSX, the high tech hybrid replacement for the classic NSX, bubbling along in the background was a lesser story raising the hopes of those looking for a new sporting honda between the Civic and the NSX ... enter the candidates for the new S2K!

The blue/red offer a natural evolution but when did Honda ever opt for evolution ...

The interior hints at a coupe/targa top which in turn supports the yellow variant ... which if offered sub £45k would really take the fight to Cayman, Z4, new Supra for sure ... and I’d have dipper on one almost without hesitation

The final camouflage offering was of course suggested as an early f/mid engine NSX replacement. The white rendering offers an undisguised proposal.
Here comes the twist ... from what Ive seen and read, this white rendering, as well as being proposed as the ‘new’ coupe only S2k, has also been proposed as a rebirth for the Prelude ...

Having owned both previously, I’d be happy to see both make it into production for 2019!

Interesting - a Prelude / Integra size car would go down well in most markets. An S2000 is badly missing from Honda's current offerings. 2 door options are very welcome, as there are so few available at the moment, as all the hot hatches etc have gone 4/5 door.

Go on, own up...how many of these are AutoExpress lash-ups?

The white one is clearly someone's fanciful way of getting column inches - Hyundai Genesis front-end onto 350Z middle with a generic arse bolted on to finish it off...

Blue '08 FD2 CTR - big, ITR-sized shoes to fill...
Yellow '96 NSX 3.0 - oh was it worth the wait!
Black '99 ITR - well, I had to have another one, the first was so much fun. Miss this one even more than #1...
Blue '03 S2000 - SOLD, flawed but fun
Blue '04 Focus TDCi Sport - SOLD, very good fun for a diesel!
Black '00 ITR - SOLD, still missed
Red '98 Civic VTi - SOLD, probably still bombproof

    KILL JOY!!!

in all honesty it would be nice if Honda would get a few more offerings out there and a bit more choice in their show rooms
TBH they need to think of something ... Toyota are making big steps into the performance game and the CTR is only going to cater for a small market share

Yes, we all know that part from the camo-car seen running round the Ring, these are all probably “lash-ups” by board artists ... but does it hurt to speculate?

If they built something close to the yellow one, offering @300hp with or without hybrid tech, a great exhaust note and priced it right in the middle of the competition I’d be interested. The rendering looks like a baby NSX and surely that’s what they should be aiming to offer.

The white one is an "NB" NSX re-touched with Tippex, apparently.

There have been numerous 'new S2000s' but none have actually made it on the numbers - 86BRZ sales are dire.

Craziest speculation is that Honda has bought the old Aston Martin VH plank, in order to build a ltd edition homologation special for the new JGT rules.

“I find myself irresistibly attracted to cars that nobody else buys. The NSX is a classic of the genre because nobody buys it and yet it’s a fantastic car. It’s got a wonderful compactness and simplicity and unpretentiousness to it. Honda rudely continues to make them whether we like it or not, even though there can be no commercial logic in doing so — I thoroughly admire that.” Rowan Atkinson
