Thread: AC Receiver/Dryer replacement

  1. Default AC Receiver/Dryer replacement

My NSX seems to be leaking refrigerant and oil from the sight glass on top of the receiver/dryer.

Generic replacement parts seem to be peanuts, which is great, but access to replace the canister itself looks a bit tricky.

Is it possible to replace the dryer without removing the bumper? If so I can just run the car over to an AC specialist and should expect a quick job, but nothing ever seems to be that easy with this car . . .

Don’t' know the spec of your NSX so just adding a side note with what Jonathan said.

If 91-92 that left the factory with R12, the holder bracket for the drier/receiver has larger diameter than the R134a spec.

These days, the aftermarket drier/receiver is compatible for both the R12/R134a but most likely, designed with the smaller diameter of R134a spec.

Bottom side is held by the bracket and there are two fittings at the top for the in/out pipes so just need preventing the drier body from vibrating.

Just use cable tie to secture it if that is the case.
