    Default Goodwood FOS 2018

we went to FOS thurs and saturday,

surprised not to see the moving motor show, but then again, didn't have much time for it usually.. took advantage of the free members entry to Kinrara enclosure, tho the breakfast has gone up to £22! However, it is an all you can eat buffet brekkie until 11am, so we wander about and rock up at 10-10:15..... and we killed it lol... 5 courses, many free tea/coffee/juice top ups.... got our moneys worth and didn't feel the need to eat again til we got home at 8!!! lol

the usual suspects were there, Sarah once again disappointed that nissan weren't, tho she made up for it on the Aston stand.... Honda stand was dull compared to previous years, but at least the NSX was accessible (AT LAST) with a GT3 version there too.... i know it's a race car, but the carbon could have been a bit better finished

as it was there 25th celebration, i did think some of the standout cars from previous years would have been there, but i s'pose there's only so much you can fit in!

the car being driven up the hill was a white one.....

being driven a little more enthusiastically this year. Hurrah!

the stand had a blue one...

which the general hoards were allowed to get near, and get in!!! hurrah 2!

in front of that was the gt3 version.... in raw carbon

and it did really taper down to virtually nothing.... just imagine the load going thru that post.... 6 real cars, lots of thick steel....

'GAS' display was entertaining as ever

it was celebrating 70 years of porsche, so they were bloody everywhere!!!! soo fed up of 911, and whatever their number derivatives are, just stop it... strange that it was all 911, beetle based stuff, didn't see any 928, 924, 914 stuff.... i'll put up a pic of lemans ones, just to balance...

fed up with porsches, then remember it's Silverstone classic next week... oh porsche joy....

mad supercar for me was the Apollo..
IMG_20180712_124516 by jon sutherland, on Flickr
you could imagine Batman would chose this

barking mad car of the show was the AM Cygnet, the toyota IQ based emissions quota 'cheat' car... this has a vantage v8 in it, so the emissions went out the window... (Sarah wants one!)

maddest old car was the mercedes land speed car of 1939..... some international incident occurred meaning it never run, and its the first time its left the mercedes museum.. shame its all cut-aways so will never run

easy to find the car tho!!!

I went Thursday and couldn't agree more about the boring porker overload.

The Apollo was stunning but costing near £3million it certainly needed to be.

The interior was just as extreme as the exterior.

Exhaust outlets were a work of art even if a bit satanic looking.

Talking about exhausts, the AM Cygnet with its straight though pipes had to be one of the loudest cars at the event.
One of the designers told me the eccentric customer had a choice of silencer to put on the car depending on where he was planning to go and that Aston Martin collect the car when receiving a call to do so, that's what £450,000 gets for you though.

My favourite car of the show just had to be:

I was at the FoS Saturday and Sunday and the thing that struck mewas the number of manufacturers choosing not to have a presence this year - Audi, Nissan, VW, Toyota Citroen and Renault all have traditionally had very significant displays and all (unless they were hidden away!) Absent this year.

I went on the Thursday and had a really good time. Got free drinks from the RED Box stand! Cheaper than the £6 per pint Goodwood were charging!

I thought the 150,000 Euros for the Polestar was a bit expensive even though they will only build 1,500 of them.
