Thread: Gaydon - British Motor Museum - a visit ?

  1. Default Gaydon - British Motor Museum - a visit ?

Is there any interest in running a club meeting at the British Motor Museum on JUNE 30th 2018?

If there are over 4 members here who would commit I will approach the organisation to see what is possible - we could also consider holding the AGM here (thoughts?)

Check out the venue here https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/

for those that have been here more than 2 years ago you will be surprised to see the new building that holds a collection of Jaguars - from the old SS to the Le Mans racers and various prototypes.

This is also the home of the JLR restoration centre where from a gallery you can see the cars undergoing a full restoration - cars of all ages

    An event for June ??????

That sounds like a great venue to visit, lots to do, see and plenty of room for sectioned off parking which they can arrange for club bookings I believe.
So pease put me down on the list.

It's not a bad place. Completely focused on British metal (unsurprisingly), which makes it a little narrow for me (and too full of odd BL stuff), but it's a good place to spend a few hours.

The kicker might be the entrance fee...have to see if we can run a meet there without getting stung for £14 each.

Blue '08 FD2 CTR - big, ITR-sized shoes to fill...
Yellow '96 NSX 3.0 - oh was it worth the wait!
Black '99 ITR - well, I had to have another one, the first was so much fun. Miss this one even more than #1...
Blue '03 S2000 - SOLD, flawed but fun
Blue '04 Focus TDCi Sport - SOLD, very good fun for a diesel!
Black '00 ITR - SOLD, still missed
Red '98 Civic VTi - SOLD, probably still bombproof

I'd be up for that. I work next door but hardly ever venture in to the museum.

And yes it's stuffed with BL stuff, but then it is the "British Motor Museum"
If you can't afford the £14 I am sure we can run a fund for you .....

Sounds like a cracking idea Gromit!

The only date in June I would recommend to avoid would be the weekend of the 16th and 17th June, (24 hours of Le Mans weekend).
2005 NA2 NSX, Berlina Black with full red leather interior.
2016 NC1 NSX, Casino White Pearl with red semi-aniline leather and alcantara.

I would be up for this,

I would suggest either Saturday 23rd or Saturday 30th, that gets Le Mans out of the way and the weather might even be half decent.

How about making a weekend of it and Hotel / meal on Saturday night and then a drive on Sunday?
