    Default Tyres

    2 questions here.

My front tyres are illegal. I only discovered this today after having the wheels off. The outside 3/4s of the tyre had plenty of tread, the insides are bald as my arse. I've had the car 1 month and 2000 miles since picking up from the dealer. Would you bother complaining?

Second question: where do you go for tyres? Just looked on mytyres.co.uk and they don't seem to do them. I fancy sticking with OEM Yokos as I only want to change the fronts, its a later model so 16/17" rims. 215/45s I believe.

If you still have Yoko rears, definitely stay with them on the front, also I don't think you will get OEM size tyres from Toyo (Proxies) or Khumo, both of these are slightly over sized, and according to those that know (Mark at Dali), if one is fitting oversized, its better to fit front and rears together, I think it's to do with proportionate ride height and circumference.

Also seems someone was a bit agressive with your toe out, I halved the OEM toe out settings at the front and didn't notice the difference on normal motoring. Mind you I am tempted to go for full OEM settings for the next track day, just to see if the difference is noticable.

Thankfully, I can confirm that you can get correct OEM size rears, at least for 94+ model year cars with 17" on the back. 245/40 ZR17 if I remember correctly////

My 1995 car had Yokohama OEM tyres which i wanted to replace but although people like "Mytyres" and "blackcircles" show a price on their websites, availability is always "out of stock" with no promise date given.
It seems that 245/17 is a strange size therefore not well stocked wheras 255/17 is a more popular tyre which will still fit.
As my rear tyres were wearing very thin i needed to go with whatever i could get hold of quickly, to stay leagal, and decided to go with KUMHO Ecsta "Supra" 255/40/ZR17 Y rated and sourced them form South Shore Tyres (01253 761362) following recommendation from Darren (Thx!). Price is VERY reasonable considering even if they have to be replaced regularly! So far ride seems a little softer and grip is plenty for what i need - hopefully they will be good in the rain when we get some!

I've also got Yokos 215/45 x 16 front, 245/40 x 17 rear. Had no problem sourcing them from SE Tyres (http://www.setyresfastfitcentres.co.uk). £100 each front, £150 each rear, fitted. Any use?
