Thread: First NC1 for sale?

    Default First NC1 for sale?

Not sure how long this has been up for sale.

I could be tempted to sell for that sort of profit

Two more at £220K and £210K also appeared on auto trader. A real shame they are just trying to flip these for profit. One mentions it's an import so I guess it isn't one of the original 100 allocated for the UK.

There is a rumour going round that they're not actually selling very well, so hopefully these stealers will get burned.

Mind you, those Ferrari prices are la-la-land.

“I find myself irresistibly attracted to cars that nobody else buys. The NSX is a classic of the genre because nobody buys it and yet it’s a fantastic car. It’s got a wonderful compactness and simplicity and unpretentiousness to it. Honda rudely continues to make them whether we like it or not, even though there can be no commercial logic in doing so — I thoroughly admire that.” Rowan Atkinson

I thought that one of the major draws for this car was that you specified it yourself and it was built specially for you?
Why would you buy someone else's configuration at an inflated price?

TBF, the 'must-have' brigade did used to pay stupid inflated prices for the latest thing.

They're not the sort of people who would aspire to a 'Honda' badge either, though.

I remember the stealers all got stung when the M-B R229 fell out of bed.

No more stupid than some paying £60k+ for escorts and sierra's IMHO, which if the market drops will surly be the hardest hit ..

    Proportionately-so, I think you're right.

Unless the global economy tanks*, I doubt we'll have a crash in the classic car market though. A softening, perhaps, as investors move in search of safer territory (gold, art, third world dictatorships...)...

    * 12 months ago I'd have said that's not going to happen, but between Trump, Brexit, Putin and the upcoming European elections I no longer have a functioning crystal ball...

Blue '08 FD2 CTR - big, ITR-sized shoes to fill...
Yellow '96 NSX 3.0 - oh was it worth the wait!
Black '99 ITR - well, I had to have another one, the first was so much fun. Miss this one even more than #1...
Blue '03 S2000 - SOLD, flawed but fun
Blue '04 Focus TDCi Sport - SOLD, very good fun for a diesel!
Black '00 ITR - SOLD, still missed
Red '98 Civic VTi - SOLD, probably still bombproof

Can't help but notice there a lot of USA NSXs on the market at list price... no uplift at all...

USA market is very different to the UK/Europe market. At present there are only 4 dealers in the whole of Europe, as for Japan not a single NC1 has even been sold yet!

Honda/Acura had to make some assumptions on the world market for this car, and for the UK they have said that only 100 will be delivered by the end of 2017, and they have taken £5K deposit for each of those and before your order can be locked you need to give another £25K. So 2 of the cars up for sale have been registered and have a few miles and the other one is selling a slot of one the other 100 cars already earmarked. This is the free market we live in after all.

With another favourable if not a bit weird review by Captain slow on the Gand Tour I think the cars will sell, but perhaps not at the premiums these dealers are asking.

May's NSX NC1 bit was good but I cynically wonder if the lack of a dry lap was intentional, if you recall the same conditions occurred for the origanol NSX on TG.
I suspect Honda UK and their dealers are seething  about it, I know I was.
4-5 seconds quicker I reckon but they just couldn't bear the thought of a "Honda" being faster than the Supercar establishment.

And then during the closing credits and music the NC1 is shown going around the same track in the dry, very weird indeed.
