Thread: changing the way the club runs (part II)

  1. Default changing the way the club runs (part II)

EDIT: the first 3 posts below were snipped from the JAE thread and made into a seperate thread since they relate to discussion about the formal/informal nature of the club - please feel free to continue this discussion here.
note: you may wish to read the first 'changing the way the club runs' thread, which is also in this section of the forum first.

this is the way it's always been here, and on the previous occasions that more formal arrangements have been proposed, members have generally stated a preference for the informal approach.

    Anyone else have a view?

I just think it's a bit sad that we have an established community (forum based) but with no structure or ability to make our presence known to others with an interest in our favorite car.

I'm not looking for a role here (far from it) but I would have thought between us we could muster a few words about our common interest, for similar future occasions? I believe we have missed the deadline for the showguide now in any event.

I have just read some posts about the club organisation etc.

It's funny, more organisation is wanted, but no-one wants to do it. I have attempted trackdays and meetings before, and sometimes there is little interest.

In the six years that we have been around, there has never been much interest in these sorts of 'JapFest' meetings. I doubt the other car owners there consider the NSX as the pinnacle of Japanese cars, they will go on about how fast their SkylineTurboImprezaTonkaToy is, and how the NSX isn't.

Anyway, I don't want to change the topic of this thread. If there is a strong feeling for changing anything we can discuss in another section.

The way the site is run works well fo rme - everything you need to find a can be found and details of events and publications about the ~NSX are always brought to light.

If the real issue here is attendance of events and the lack o finterest in meets then no change to the website will remedy that - if people dont want to go then they wont!!!

    No evolution without revolution?

I'm not sure whether I agree with the statement I've just made, but there it is.

However, I think that new ideas are important to keep things interesting.

With regard to events I think that there should be at least one meeting that everyone tries hard to attend, and this should be publicised properly through the website............say hyperthetically we could use 'JAE' as our annual meet? It would mean a little effort but only once a year!

Sorry, and no offence meant, but I have zero interest in JAE. I didn't buy the NSX out of some weird fetish for Japanese cars. In fact to be honest I find most of them incredibly boring, and yes that includes spammed up Supras.

I wholeheartedly agree - there should be an official 'annual NSXCB meet'

if it is posted and publicised as such with plenty of notice and at around the same time each year then I don't see why we shouldn't get huge attendance and beat the current record of 22 cars.

    personally I would like to see 2 official meets per year for this club;

    1. a 'general' meet at say a pub or hotel with good parking and facilities for us to all dine together (either indoors or outdoors) and generally socialise.

    2. a track meet for both the experienced and the curious to take to the track in our NSXs and again generally socialise too.

I don't mind volunteering for some of the organisation on either event or both if people would like to see them happen.

That would be great. Its nice to go to the other meets like the one in Silverstone but it would be better if we could do something just for the NSXCB.
