...... if a photobucket pic is foggy, click it, and it'll take you to the clear version, yes, it's a clicking faff....

    back to the plot.....

If I’m not so sure about something, in this case the alternator cover, I leave it a couple of weeks, then have another look! That way I get to see it with fresh eyes, and get to see what , if anything, needs doing. so upon opening the engine cover did I like what I saw…. No!

It is a prototype, so it’s allowed! But looking at it, it looks too ‘thin’. Like it’s made out of a thin piece of aluminium. Yes, I know it IS a thin piece of aluminium, but although doing it’s job, still looks out of place, so a tweak is required!

A bit of metal bashing later and I have a cap to add to the end, which was ‘welded’ on with lumiweld and a blow torch… and mocked up just to check!

    a shot of filler…..

and after a flat and paint up we get to this…
2013-06-24-3055 by jon sutherland, on Flickr

the return giving a more ‘solid’ appearance, and the radiused end into the vertical face tie-ing in with the curves of the intake/injector covers….

blah blah blah! it just looks better!

the vertical face above the pulley cover is clear of the alternator, and shouldn’t affect any air-flow… I did a quick mock up to see if it needed trimming back any more..

Completeness is yours, much more of an OEM look about it now ...
