Default R motion - NSX race build

We've just bought this from salvage auction for a basis for a race car to run in the Honda Vtec Challenge.

Just wondering if it was owned by a forum member.

Was also on a private plate a few years ago - P4NDE

Will start a build thread soon.

    Was a member on here who owned a couple, a '91 and a 99. Member Pande: http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/member.php?111-Pande
Which one do you have, the '91 or '99?

Welcome to the forum. Will look forward to your thread.

    Welcome.

I presume that's the '99. IIRC, Pande used to look after it very well.

Still, it doesn't look three bad, presuming it can be tugged straight at the front.

Good luck with the challenge - EK4/9s & DC2s are a tad cheaper to run, so it will be!

“I find myself irresistibly attracted to cars that nobody else buys. The NSX is a classic of the genre because nobody buys it and yet it’s a fantastic car. It’s got a wonderful compactness and simplicity and unpretentiousness to it. Honda rudely continues to make them whether we like it or not, even though there can be no commercial logic in doing so — I thoroughly admire that.” Rowan Atkinson

Thanks guys, useful to know. Yes its a 99 NA2

I'm actually minded to replace all the panels with a widebody kit - and sale of the good panels would at least go towards the kit cost. I dont really want to be shelling out for OEM panels if it gets pranged on the track.

I know its going to be expensive - everything is essentially 5-10x the price of DC2 stuff!!! but it will be a demo/show car as well as a race car for R-Motion. We also actually run the Vtec Challenge so hoping this might generate some more interest in the series.

Was going to suggest that. I think that would be a good move. Maybe get in touch with Rob Fenn, they've been there & done that and should be able to give you some sound advice.

Yes I'll get in touch with Rob. He was planning on racing in the Nippon Challenge when I raced my EK there a few years back but I think he rightly had higher aspirations than the NC!

Default R-Motion NSX Race Car Build

Well the build has started in ernest this week. First stage was to strip the car pretty much bare. First phase of this is done - all the interior electrics & loom, interior and most of the underbonnet gubbins.

Its been fascinating job as you get to see how they put it together. What is surprising though is all the effort they went into building a lightweight chassis and body only to then fill it with very heavy stuff! But then I suppose thats what the NSX-R was about.

For example, we weighed a few items that seemed a bit excessive.

Interior/front harness inlcuding all control boxes, ECU etc 25kgs
    Steering column 11kgs
Twin aircon rads with cowling and fans 8kgs
    Front bumper inc lights 12kgs

    Anyway some pics:

Engine out next week then the rest of the wiring, pipework etc.

This should be interesting to watch as this progresses.

Can I ask a boring question and ask what jack stands you are using?

Replace the front lights for O2 plus and you'll save lots more.
