Hope everyone is well,
I noticed a Type S is for sale next week at the Silverstone Auctions. I can't remember who the owner is, so was hoping for a bit of background?

There appears to be 3 NSX in the auctions over the weekend......
That one was imported by Torque GT - it features on their website.

I don't remember it being a member on here's car. None of the photos of that car showed the original BBS wheels, so I would guess they didn't make it over. There is a set on Yahoo Auctions Japan at the moment, but be sitting down when you see what they want for them.

Am I the only one who thinks the estimate is a little on the lite side for 1 of 3 in the UK and these virtually never come up for sale?

A few years later another set came up on ebay and a member here snapped them up. I seem to remember they refinished the wheels in black?

The NSX currently lives in a Carcoon while my new garage is being completed. We moved house about 20 months ago and one of the criteria was the ability to garage 4+ cars. The NSX competes for purely pleasure miles with the E Type and 12C which live in the regular garage and are hence easier to access and use. Not that I manage to use them much either!
Will try to attached a pic of the new garage which will house a parking lift so that I can double stack 2 of them :thumbsup:

How long have you had yours and what has it been like to own Mark?
:yes: To all that. Type-S would probably be my real-world ideal...only downsides with this car are it's silver (personal bete-noire about performance cars) and it's not got the BBS.Quote:

Waaaaay back, before the GenII NSX appeared, we had a long discussion here on the spiritual successor to the original NSX. We thought the original R8 V8 and then rumoured new McLaren best fitted the brief and I think we were right. The original NSX was a different take on the standard "supercar" recipe and so was the 12C :thumbsup: I love both cars for exactly that reason and both are keepers. Guess I'll have to decide which one to be buried in as the Jag will probably have rotted away by then :)
After press feedback that the 12C wasn't as supercar'y as the Ferrari 458, McLaren rather lost their nerve and newer models have converged toward that standard supercar recipe with pointy'er/flashier styling, noisier theatrical engine/exhaust notes and slide'ier handling :yawn: ... which is just not for me.
Steve/Ollie here has or had a 12C Spider and quite a few owners in the USA have both an NSX and 12C in their garages :cool:

Excellent write-up and I am in full agreement about your car choice. My second car would definitely be the 12C but I could not justify it and my NSX. (I used to own a Series 1 OTS 'E' Type but it has long gone, unfortunately.) And I totally concur with your comments on these forums. People are entitled to make subjective opinions on styling and the like - we all see things differently - but when you get morons who have never been nearer these cars than a magazine photograph trolling utter rubbish about handling, driveability etc you quickly lose interest. My personal opinion is that they are sad people who drive around in a bog standard 10 year old Ford with go-fast stripes and a loud exhaust and hate the fact that there are people out there owning and driving proper cars like the NSX and the 12C.Quote:

I upgraded to 70mm (thickness) walls and had it custom sized to fit the 30m (square) permitted development rules. Got it from a company called "Quick Garden" who make them to order in Holland (I think). Total cost was about £13K which includes the slab, 12mm porcelain floor tiles and Rollerdor (model RD55) doors. The new and extended driveway to get to the new garage was another £20K though!

The garage came in a REALLY big kit, here a few pics of it mid build and of the roof tiles and doors...

About right, I'd guess, as it would cost 5-15k for the correct wheels (if you can secure them) with the pound in the state it is in...

Hi Mark - thank you for taking time to post your thoughts on the 12C though I must say that has done absolutely nothing to dampen my interest!!!
I thought I was the only one when preferred the (more subdued) styling of the 12C to McLaren's more recent products...though I am quite taken with the Speedtail!
When you were looking for your car what were your 'must have's' (later production car with more power / early gremlins ironed out? extras? McLaren service history etc etc?)
Going back to the silver Type S, is this the same car a couple of years later? :

I think it previously sold at Silverstone for around £80k - I know a couple of people who were interested but no idea who bought it - if it ws that one then they had a good investment.
