Britludes NSX story

whilst i had the door apart, i wanted to repaint the door switch panels, so these were removed and given a blast to remove the previous paint layers... they had already suffered the wrinkle effect, and subsequent peeling off of the chrome layer...

(i suspect the metallic (thick) plated layer was put on at the factory as the plastic seems to have air pockets in the structure, and small micro-blisters can form in the paint if it's been in the sun, the metal layer nicely preventing this until it finally gives up one day and ripples!)

anyway a good coat of 2 pack primer coupled with the sand blasted finish should keep this at bay for a while....

(quick aside , I've decided my brakes are lacking, so just ordered myself a set of stoptech brake discs, so they will be going on when they arrive!)

282mm all arround, right??

i upgraded mine to 97+ sizes, 300mm all arround, and comparing prices with 91-96 is a pain.

yup, stock 1992 sizes for the time being, just giving the brakes a good service!

thursday evening i removed the wheels, gave the suspension/wheel well a good shot of everyone's favourite cleaner, good 'ol simple green precision followed by a hose off, followed by a snow foam and a pressure wash just to make sure!!!!

just in case you've never seen the cleaning power of soap and a water....

the car was jacked up, and all the wheels removed

(with a bit of a satin black on the disc splash guard and a wipe over of the caliper :) ) the red axle stand isn't holding anything up, it was there to support the caliper while everything was unbolted!

and the rear looking better too!....

when reseating the caliper pistons, they are corroding on the outside (noted when i overhauled them ages ago) so new pistons are be on the list! there was also evidence of the paint having brake fluid damage, and although dry obviously something was up at some point!

so i'm looking to source stainless steel pistons, as i don't like having to do a job twice if it can be helped!
