Actually, given we've some European colleagues likely to visit, that's not a bad idea for the Saturday night. I'll have a think about a couple of roads for a twilight drive towards a decent place...then poll for interest closer to the date.

I have with much regret decided that I am unable to coordinate the 2015 Silverstone Classic Event on behalf of the NSXCB. This is because the rules imposed by the organisers of the SSC2015 require all clubs to have Public liability Insurance. The NSXCB is a forum, it is not a legally recognised body and therefore cannot get Public Liability Insurance. If I were to sign and agree to do what I have in the past I would be doing so knowing that first I was in breach of the agreement with the organisers of the SSC and second that in the event of an accident as a result of a car taking part owned by a person using the code provided to NSXCB I would potentially be liable.
From the SSC registration terms and conditions “All clubs must have Public Liability Insurance to cover their display area. This is in the sole interest of the club and is designed to protect it from any unnecessary and unaffordable financial claim made against it.”
It has been suggested that when Honda provide the pavilions that they cover the Public Liability portion. This is in part true, they do so for their equipment and the Pavillions – not theNSXCB cars that are brought.
I have made the proposal that a club be formed to manage events, “club” equipment, funding etc, however there does not seem to be much support for this. In my view it would not change what the NSXCB does or is, it would merely be a “container” for activities and events that would need managing and financial/legal cover. This proposal has not gained traction with the people on the forum. There is more detail on the connection of such a club and the NSXCB, but I will not go into that here.
If anyone would like to take this on contact me and I will pass everything over to you.
Hi Mike,
I would like to say Thank You to you for the personal interest and time you have invested to ensure many have been able to enjoy this event over recent years.
It does seem a shame that SCC have adopted this new position and in my view now risk losing some of its attendees and the very cars that many travel to the event to see.
Here's hoping someone can pick up the mantle and find a way of acheiving representation for the NSX in its 25 year.
regards, Paul
Hi guys,
Could we not form a NSXCB Silverstone Club for those going and get PLI for just the weekend , it can't be too expensive for one event .
With circa 50 cars listed to attend , if we all chip in say £5 , £250 should cover the insurance easily
Would be a shame to not attend with 50 cars wanting to go especially this year of all years .
Just a thought
Steve
we could form the "HONDA NSX Owners Club" - then this would exist for all events - NSXCB would be linked as the main website. That was my proposal originally
Firstly great big thank you to sorepaws ( Mike ) for all the hard work over the past years. I love going to this event and meeting new and old friends and with 2015 being such a big event for both Silverstone and NSX I want to be there. My knowledge with insurance is limited and I am sure we have more knowledgeable members on the forum who will provide guidance. All the cars on the stand and at the event would have Third Party or Fully Comprehensive Insurance which I believe automatically includes PLI. So if a car sets on fire and blows up or door flies open in the wind and hits someone that would be covered. Likewise with driving around circuit and the track
The only cover I see we would need PLI insurance for is for any signs, flags, tents, cooking facilities, gas bottles etc which may injure someone on the stand. PLI for 5 million would be under a £100.00 for a one off event and annually £200- £250.00 which could include Donington and Japfest etc. My question is if we didn't have a stand or flags and signs would we be okay, as the the cars are covered.
I agree with Steve all the cars attending could chip in a couple of pound to cover the cost if required. if we can get around the issue with the forum not being a club.
Kingsley
As others have already said, a big thank you to Mike to all the effort he has put in, and the hassle he has had to deal with.
I thought we were a club! NSX CLUB Britain. So my vote would be to go with the idea Kingsley put forward and pay £100 or so for this one off event or the £250 or so to cover us for whole year.
