Back to working on this engine again.
As I didn’t work on any mechanical parts for
a few days, my finger sense won’t be up to the
level for any processes requiring the delicate touch
so decided to just clean the internal engine parts
for the day.

Full of old oil contaminated with sludge and moisture
trapped in the several oil pockets located on the cyl head.

Absorbed them and then cleaned really well until the
metal surface showed up.

Old oil removed from the LMA pockets and then
cleaned to this level before applying the fresh oil.

1st stage cleaning done at the front bank.
Notice the clean oil pockets around the area.

New SoS LMA installed with fresh oil.
Double checked the seating of metal spacer by
pressing on the spring carefully.

Rocker shaft and arms installed and about to
press in the orifice with new O-ring.

Front bank cleaning done.
Before/After shots.

The plug holes were also cleaned to remove any old oil
sitting at the bottom.

There was little chance of getting moisture in the air
based on the weather forecast while working on the
rear bank but as a precaution, applied fresh engine oil
at the cam journals to keep the surface free from
any contamination.
They will be cleaned and one more time, the fresh oil
will be applied before the installation of the cam shafts.

Working on the rear bank at the moment.
More to follow later.
