Eng Refresh Stage 1 + LMA (SoS) – Preparation 02

Before opening the engine, I must check the spec of
SoS LMA against the OEM one.

I have never used SoS products and I don’t know whether
this one is made in house or not but looked to be quality product.

The instruction states to install the spacer first and then
place the spring on top but for the measuring purpose,
assembled 1 set with eng oil now.

Until Honda revised the replacement LMA design,
it was required to add spacer like the one sold by SoS but
with the latest release from Honda,
there is not much advantages in getting the aftermarket one.

Happy with the length and as the owner already bought this
long time ago, not much point in getting the Honda one so
will install these this time.

As always, wrapping the panel before placing the
heavy duty non-slip cushion mat.

After using several different makes, I came to a conclusion
that the one from Baco is similar to what I used to use in Japan.

I have seen the same thing on many NSX based in UK
but now, I’m not sure whether this was done by the
small friend or not because on almost all cases,
the surrounding wires were fine.

They love chewing into the wires yet no sign of it
so don’t know how this can happen........

Some of the OEM cap nuts were missing and
being replaced by non-OEM ones.

I have some of OEM one in stock and I hope
I have enough of them.....

I asked the owner about his daily driving environment and
condition because of the dirt accumulated at the
air cleaner element.

It was just replaced 1 year ago and already so dirty that
it can’t pass much LED light compared to the new one.

Normally, you can cover 20K – 30K miles with a single filter
even for a every day car.
The owner covered way below that mileage within a year so
quite surprised to see the state of the filter.

I’m not a fan of aftermarket filter but at this rate of replacing
the OEM filter, may need to consider it as some of the
aftermarket ones can be reused after cleaning and oiling.
