I think this WP is at the end of its life.

Valve covers.
Quite surprised with more gunk at the rear bank than the front one.
With this blowby gas routing, it’s normally the front side that
will get more dirt.

The gasket at the front valve cover was not installed properly.

Also, several gasket areas where the liquid gasket must be applied
were missing it and this was the reason why the
front valve cover was seeping the oil behind the cover plate.

The original design TB front and rear covers.
No scratch markings inside so they are going to be re-used.

Condition check before backing off the valve clearance adjuster
in preparation for cam shaft removal.

The clearance was way too much on all cyl at random level.

Even managed to insert 0.20mm gauge without even a tiny friction
at the intake side on some of the cyl.

No wonder why the compression was all over the place.

As this engine is the early model,
the front exhaust cam won’t line up against the
hole on the holder plate.

Not a problem as we don’t rely on this for cam timing.

Quite normal and the crank seal was dry so going to leave it as it is.
Notice the silver metal surface under there as the
result of engine washing.

Initially, it was covered in sticky black gunk with oil.
