Eng Refresh Stage 1 – 21

Compression check after the Eng Refresh service.
Full data has been forwarded to the owner.

Yes, I’m biased because I have carried out the engine refresh on
this engine, but still,
really pleased with the result.

So much better than before and all six cyl really close each other.

I was more impressed on the fact that this engine managed to
produce so much compression even with the rear exhaust cam timing
off by 1 tooth.

In the past, when I saw this issue mainly in Japan,
all of them showed noticeable lower figure than the front bank.

To be honest, if this owner visited my place for just annual check,
I probably didn’t spot the wrong timing because the idle rpm was
fairly stable and although it showed slight hesitation once in the
cold wet test driving session, I thought it was down to the
unknown age of the fuel.
Also, the compression figure was similar to what I saw on the low
mileage engine with poor valve clearance job.

So, I’m really pleased that the owner decided to take the
engine refresh service despite the super low mileage.

As I had to disconnect the brake hose at the rear in order to
take the entire drivetrain out, pressure bled the system.

All brake hoses were very old and brake caliper seemed to be never
serviced so something to be considered in the future based on
what I found on this engine.

Will adjust the parking brake later.

Going to keep the wheel off until tomorrow for
double checking for any leakage.

Engine cover back in place and adjusting the position in order to
prevent the mist on the engine hatch glass.

Started to service the ABS and already having fun at the first solenoid.....

It’s completely stuck closed even after building the back pressure while
activating it.......

If your ABS is in this condition, it’s the opposite of leaky solenoid issue so
while you won’t get the noisey ABS pump running frequently,
some of your wheels won’t have ABS and simply locks up
which is not good.....

So, don't assume your ABS is fine even if your ABS pump doesn't kick in
frequently. You may have stuck closed solenoid instead of leaky one and thus,
no ABS.

Will give it a go again tomorrow........
Challenge continues.............
