So, started to work on another NSX.
The service menu is to replace all of the coolant hoses, CL Hyd sys,
ABS flush, etc, etc, etc…

When the owner arrived at my place, he told me that
his door mirror adjuster no longer works in the up/down direction.

He had the mirror plate replaced in the past.

I thought it would be an easy fix so decided to take a look at it before
going out for the test driving session.

Wrong idea……..

At the end, I had to spend extra time and by the time I was ready,
I didn’t fancy going out for the test driving session because of the
heavy traffic in the late afternoon.

Should have done it before start working on it….

The damage was quite obvious.

Someone stripped the holder screw and in order to repair it,
used another bolt and then drilled another hole next to the original one.

Unfortunately, due to the angle against the original hole, it was not threaded
all the way so the existing holder screw was just holding the mirror briefly and
with the vibration, the mirror unit just dislocated itself and not allowing the
actuator to move properly.

So, had to re-thread the hole created by someone and used bit longer screw
because the angle of the 2nd hole made the lower section of it in wider diameter
resulting in no locking at all.

Interesting to see the red thread lock on the fairly new looking screw.

Not sure whether this is the new screw came with the replacement mirror plate but
it had the red sealant that is almost identical to the one used at the WP fixing bolts
from Honda.

The actual door mirror housing should have been replaced and not repaired but
there is no way I can tell when the original repair was attempted so I’ll just return
the existing screw to the owner.

Also, the movement of the actuator itself was not smooth at the edge of
every directions so ideally, best to be replaced at some point.

Now the up/down operation of the door mirror has been recovered.

We are going to replace the CL master/slave/hose as a set.
It is always recommended to replace all three as a set.

Quick look at the existing condition......

Yes, it’s leaking and got worse than before so glad we are dealing with it now.

The fluid was full of debris from the perished rubber seal….

The CL pedal was really heavy.
Not sure what kind of CL is used on this NSX but it could be from
the dried out grease around the release bearing.

One thing for sure, the grease at the CL fork pocket is no longer there.

It was making loud squeaking noise.
Will be greased properly when installing the slave cyl.

This NSX is targa model and the owner wanted me to take a look at the
squealing/rattling noise from the roof section.

It’s not the wind noise.

There are several things to check on targa model when it comes to the noise issue.

The famous one is the noise from the guide rail at both side of the front roof and
you need to apply silicone grease regularly.

I think in US, Acura released TSB for this.

I’m afraid some of the plastic ribs/tabs that lock the plastic panel at the
side of the roof were broken and missing.

This will result in rattling noise.
All I can do is to insert thin felt wool to minimise the rattle against the
hard object causing the noise.

The engine oil and filter were replaced 6 months ago when I was working on
this NSX and since then, the owner only covered just below 1,000miles.

S0, I’ll change the engine oil but going to reuse the oil filter.

I’ll be taking the whole oil cooler assy together with the oil filter while
replacing all of the coolant hoses so I can drain as much used oil
as possible before putting it back.

The coolant level was at the MIN level.
Will check for any leakages before going out for the test driving session.

More to follow later.
