MX5 Engine Refresh – Final Touch

Rate this Entry

Replaced the fuel filter.
Replacing it on NSX is easy if you have access to the air tool but
MX5 is even easier. No need for the air tool.

Although it was still operating fine, the pressure sensor at the power steering pump
showed extra play compared to the new one so probably replace it in the near future
to be on the safe side.

I may need to look into the starter motor because it has covered over 60K miles in
19 years and based on what I heard from my friends, it may start showing the sign
of fatigue soon.

Better to replace it before it fails.

Dressed the engine bay.

The upper tank of the radiator is more like brown compared to the
dark green when it was new so it is at the end of its life.

As same for our NSX, radiator is a consumable parts.

Ideally, I would like to use the full aluminium one but considering the
usage of this MX5 and the price of the new all aluminium one,
probably over spec.

Initially, I was thinking about replacing the radiator drain plug because
as reported earlier, it showed slow leak.

However, the standard aftermarket radiator can be obtained at
about GBP40 – 80 so while the coolant is still brand new,
I may just replace the whole radiator.

Overall, very happy with the result especially the engine is
so quiet and smooth now.

Will be start working on another NSX from next week.
