Battery

As reported last Saturday, I had to give my battery up for the owner as
his battery condition got worse and worse and finally completely failed on
the day he was collecting his NSX from my place.

All Honda battery is covered by 3 years warranty and although
I didn’t have the receipt for this specific battery that I bought in June 2011,
there was several engraved codes on the battery itself and one of them
seemed to be the manufactured date so
took it back to my local Honda garage on Monday.

They tested it using their own tester and confirmed that it was
an internal failure (charges to full but fails the load test).

They even filled the warranty repair form for me and this morning,
got the message that the replacement battery arrived.

Very quick.

The failed battery was for MT model so the parts no. was
31500-SV2-001HE.

However, recently I found out that it was now superseded to
31500-SV2-011HE so the replacement one was of -011HE version as well.

Lots of ‘cat sand’ like material inside the box so
you don’t want to open it inside the garage.

There used to be some sort of manufactured date info engraved between
the GND post and the clear check window but on this model,
there was nothing.

Instead, found a sticker on the side.

Will keep the battery on the conditioner overnight to fully charge it
before installing it into my NSX.

Now I can start disassembling the parts for engine refresh on MX5.

My Honda battery failed after just one year! Again mine would appear to charge fully but fail a load test. Replaced under warranty FOC no problems by Honda.
