Had to focus on another project today so just a quick update including the
process before I was cut short by the dishwasher problem.

Double checked that the crank was still at the #1 TDC.

Installed the TB and checked so many times that the valve timing was
correct at all four camshafts.

Tensioned the TB, installed the TB lower cover and one more time,
double checked the timing.

On very early model, while the hole on the cam holder plate at
the rear bank exhaust side lines up properly to the hole on the cam shaft..........

.........you may find it very tight and not quite lined up at the front exhaust side.

This only happens on the very early model and you are not relying on
these holes for the valve timing so not a problem.

Happy with the valve timing and TB tension so started re-assembling the parts.

In the meantime, applied dash of black paint on the valve covers.
The temperature was bit low today and wet weather so not ideal for
good drying process but can’t delay this too much.

Oil cooler with new coolant hoses and cramps installed using liquid gasket on
the thread of upper two bolts.

The rear bank valve cover.

I already spent hours just for cleaning this engine and the valve covers were
no exception.

They were really dirty…….
It looked like this when I removed it.

Once the paint has dried, will install the plug hole and cover gaskets.

Time for the another round of valve clearance adjustment......

More to follow later.
