Just keep preparing for the engine removal….

Loosen the crank pulley bolt before taking the engine out.
No drama as I already replaced this crank pulley for the owner in the past and
followed the specific procedure before re-installing the pulley bolt so it came off
without any issues.

Crank pulley will be re-used as it’s still fairly new.

You can drain total of about 15L coolant from the various draining points.
Still, when you remove the coolant hoses, thermostat, oil cooler, etc,
you will get some splash.

Despite the heavy oil seepage around the valve covers, cam shaft caps,
VTEC spool valves, etc, the area around the oil pan was fairly dry.

By the looks of the drain bolt, it seems someone replaced the oil pan in the past.
Very good as there are many NSX on the street with big dent at the oil pan.

By the way, when I went to my local Honda garage to collect some of the parts
including the battery for this NSX,
I was told that the battery price suddenly went up quite a lot.

Even the parts department person didn’t know about this and
only found it out when they got the delivery.

Apparently, their parts system was not even updated yet but
the battery for the MT model NSX was superseded just now.

It used to be 31500-SV2-001HE at about GBP65.
The latest number is 31500-SV2-011HE as in the photo and it went up to about GBP103!!

[Edit: 05/Sep/12. Looks like Honda corrected the price information in
their system.
The battery for MT model is now back to about GBP66 inc.VAT even
using the -011HE parts no..]

Still cheaper than it used to be (about GBP150 – 200) but quite big increase.

I don’t know whether the price and parts no. were changed even for the
AT model or not at this stage.

In US, the parts no. for the MT model was superseded to
different one (31500-SL5-100M) and it can be purchased in UK.

The system shows it is still about GBP65 but it could be in the similar situation as
the one that I just bought.

Any way, the good news is,
since the parts department people didn’t know about this at the time of
providing me with the quote, they honoured the previous price.

Good for this owner.

If your local Honda garage still has 001HE version for MT in stock,
just get it before all of them being replaced with -011HE one.
