Health Check & Preparation 01

Started to work on another NSX from today.

It’s an early model and the owner came back to my place for another
Health Check with Engine Refresh, Brake OH, ABS and Cooling System OH.

Considering the mileage and sound of engine, it was recommended to
replace the Lost Motion Assembly (LMA) but the existing ones will be
checked before removal.

The owner doesn’t drive his NSX regularly and also
didn’t used to exercise the ABS.

When the owner arrived at my place, the ABS reservoir was at MIN level and
the area was very wet.

It also lost the cover for the ABS pump.

I’ll need to flush it really well.

This NSX had some work by the A/C specialist in the past.
The condensers were replaced with aftermarket ones and
the routing of some of the A/C pipes were also modified.

Quite good work.

The A/C gas level was at mid level but still blowing very cold air although
I noticed that the Left side condenser fan didn’t operate even the fuse was fine.

Possibility of fan motor failure.

I haven’t looked into detail yet but if that is the case, then needs to think about
how to replace the motor without taking the bumper off with
the aftermarket condenser in place.

I have done it with OEM condenser and still, it was not fun.

Also, looked to be some leakage around the compressor itself.

Missing the cap nut at the rear bank IG coil cover.

In fact, several bolts and nuts were replaced with non-OEM ones.

As seen on most of the NSX, very wet engine.
It’s seeping from the valve cover, camshaft cap seal and looked to be
even from the VTEC spool valves.

Can’t wait to wash the engine…..
It will be engine out job because the leakage is severe.
