Final Touch

As all of the tyres are replaced with the Neova AD-08 and
I felt the steering was not pointing straight during the Health Check,
recommended the owner to take the alignment service in the near future.

As I already applied silicone grease to the alignment bolts at the rear,
decided to do the same for the front ones.

As seen on many NSX, Caster adjuster was already seized but
it seemed that it was never touched any way so probably they are
close enough to the factory setup.

Happy with the brake condition so put the wheels back on and
went for the test driving session.

Reset the ECU and happy with the idle rpm.

Started washing the car in the rain and when it briefly stopped,
used garden blower to dry the car as much as possible in
a short time window before it started raining again.

Didn’t have time to blow dry the wheels so the brake disc will be
rusty but no options so will ask the owner to apply hard braking
before going on to the main road.

As it is using AD-08, I normally use lowered tyre pressure than
the OEM setup for the test driving session so will ask the owner
on his preference.

Completed the Service Log file and the car is finally ready for the collection.

It took long-long time for the service this time but it was
pleasure working on this NSX and
I hope the owner will enjoy driving his NSX for many years.

Thank you for using my service.

Regards,

Kaz

Kaz, it has been a great pleasure reading your blog and following the progress on my car. What is even better is that I now know that many important areas have been addressed by your planned preventative maintenance, which I am sure will result in savings for me in the long term. But also I am now confident I can now use the car to the full in the way the manufacturer intended.

For the benefit of anyone who has followed this work, which starts at Kaz blog Health Check 01 dated 11 June 2012, the next steps were to collect the car from Kaz, drive directly to a prebooked MOT and keep my fingers crossed. No worries. Passed 100% clear, with no advisories.

On Kaz’s recommendation then I booked the car in for alignment at JPS Motorsport in Bletchley where they have Hunter 600 digital alignment equipment. Of the 14 parameters measured, eleven were out of tolerance on the car when it arrived. After set up all were within tolerance except the caster on one side which was 4’ out; and as Kaz has noted the caster adjustment is seized any way.

I had a good chat with Leon who runs JPS Motor sport and is very helpful and knowledgeable on set ups. In the end we adopted pretty much Kaz recommended values and will monitor wear v. driving style and see how it goes. Certainly the car felt very sweet on the run home, albeit with releasing agent still on the tyres and wet roads I exercised some caution.

In conclusion, Kaz’s approach may not be for everyone but for me the service he offers is quite exceptional and any NSX owner on whose car he works can count themselves extremely fortunate.

Thanks Kaz, look forward to seeing your again for Engine Refresh and Dampers, but not before I have given the brakes and driveshafts a work out on some of those Swiss mountain passes.

This has to be one of the best NSX in the club right now ... It was cosmetically great before all this work, so with some Kaz treatment you can now really go have some fun Nick!
