Drive Shaft 05

Rate this Entry

New MTF strainer cover with new O-ring installed.
There was no damage to the mating thread on the Gbox side so relieved.
Looks much better now.

Until the arrival of the parts from Japan, can’t finish rebuilding the left side drive shaft
so in the mean time, finished cleaning the rollers and internal parts for the inspection.

There was very interesting marking on the wheel speed trigger teeth
at the outboard joint.

There was no ABS warning light triggered so it didn't cause any issues so far
but there was round flat marking on the teeth.

Very smooth, flat and so symmetrical that hard to believe it was caused by dropping the drive shaft or hitting the teeth with something.

Painted the joints after cleaning them.

Can’t do much on the left side drive shaft without the parts and
I won’t install the right side one until after replacing the two coolant hoses
at the oil cooler.

These two hoses are the most time consuming task during the cooling system overhaul.

Will be cleaning the A/C Evaporator and also start removing the existing coolant hoses while waiting for the arrival of the parts.

More to follow later.
