Wheel Speed Sensor and Drive Shaft 04

Rate this Entry

Decided to take some rest yesterday and now I'm feeling much better.

Started to refurbish the drive shaft.

Due to the excessive corrosion at the wheel speed trigger teeth, outer joint had to be replaced and I bought used complete drive shaft from my friend.

It looked fine from outside but when I opened the Inner Joint and inspected it, one of the roller was cracked.

Because of this, internal tiny pin bearings were smashed and metal dust were everywhere inside the joint.

I only needed the Outer joint so I was very lucky but another good example of why we must service the drive shaft at a certain interval even you don’t feel any issues.

Once cleaned, time to paint the shaft and the joint housing.

Time consuming but for me, this is the ‘Must’ procedure of overhauling each rollers.

These are for the Outer Joint.

Another three rollers for the Inner side so after dealing with 100’s of pin bearings, my shoulder became very stiff.

If you are doing this inside the house, make sure to cover the carpet otherwise, you may not be allowed to bring any car parts inside the house in the future….

I learnt it the hard way the other day…

The paint should be dry by now and the sealant at the trans case should be cured so time to put everything back in place.

Need to focus on this NSX more as I'm behind the schedule again ...
