Wheel Speed Sensor and Drive shaft 01

Rate this Entry

Once again, it’s time to refurbish the drive shaft.

This NSX has strange high frequency brake pedal kick back almost every time when the car was just about to stop.

Last time, after replacing the Right drive shaft and the RR wheel speed sensor, the owner confirmed that it got better but still not quite right.

We were expecting this as the Left drive shaft and RL wheel speed sensor were untouched.

At that time, I already saw the bad corrosion at the trigger teeth on the Left side so no surprise.

In order to be certain that it was nothing to do with the original ABS controller, I test drove the car after ABS upgrade before removing the Left drive shaft.

The issue was still there so it would be the remaining left side trigger teeth/wheel speed sensor or the ones at the Fronts causing this kick back.

When started working on the left side, I didn’t like the feeling of the two wheel nuts and the stud bolts so re-threaded them.

If they were in worse condition, it would be best to replace them but they were still fine to be re-threaded.

Before removing the drive shaft, the wheel speed sensor was inspected.

Once again, it was showing the sign of damage but not too bad compared to the right side in the past.

At that time, the right side sensor tip was being pushed away significantly resulting in wider gap and weak signal.

The Left trigger teeth were also in bad shape.

I’m hoping to fix the brake pedal kick back issue this time but I may need to check the condition of the Front components (speed sensor and the trigger pulsar disc) if the issue still remains.

Front bits could be in similar condition although they are better protected against the moisture and heat.
