DIY A/C Filter

Rate this Entry
Unlike most of the modern cars, at the time when our NSX was designed, the pollen filter was not included for the A/C system.

Thus, anything such as leave, dust, etc fell through the air scoop could find their way to the A/C blower fan while you are using ‘Fresh’ mode at the Climate Control Unit.

The blower fan will then direct all sorts of debris to the surface of A/C evaporator resulting in such dirty condition described in the earlier post.

So, once you cleaned the evaporator, it is best to prevent it from getting dirty again.

There are several aftermarket products available and also some of the members here created their own filter.

You can modify the pollen filter for other cars but as I don’t know the long term effect of reduced drag at the blower motor, I prefer using the filter for the cooker hood, tyrap it to the blower entrance and trim the lower part to prevent moisture being absorbed.

The mesh is too wide for the pollen but good enough to keep the evaporator clean against big debris.

Using the A/C in ‘Recirc’ mode will also help.

So, placed back the blower motor, battery and ready for the test driving session before start working on the Left drive shaft.
