NSX Repair 01

Rating: 7 votes, 4.86 average.

From time to time, I was asked about the condition of the repaired NSX.

I was lucky enough to be invited to have a look at some of the actual repairing process in the past.
There were variety of damages but most of them were caused by spinning off at the track as well as the accident on the public road.

I hope following information will save some of the damaged NSX and highlight that if it was repaired properly by the right people, then it could be enjoyed for many years to come....

All of the following photos (including the ones in the consecutive posts) are from Mr Toyoizumi at KSP Engineering, Japan.
Thank you for letting me using these.

This NA1 Type-R skidded out on track and hit the tyre wall with its front left end and also all of the left side panels.

After removing the dashboard and all of the interior panels, the chassis was placed on the jig to check the frame and the damage was quite significant at the front end ....

...but no damage to the rear end.

Also, despite the significant twist at the front frame, the side sill section (just behind the front bulkhead/firewall) was not affected.

Decision was made to replace the entire front frame assy.

This was built at NSX factory so the quality, alignment and attention to the detail were superb.

The question is, as NSX is no longer manufactured, can we still get hold of this or not??
